Living Stones 2010 Update
Living Stones 2010 Update
Construction financing has been secured and the old construction has been paid in full. Construction drawings will be ready for building committee review on or before Sept. 9th. Organ disassembly should begin in late Nov. or early Dec., as well as pew removal for refinishing. Because of the uncertainty as to the exact date as to which these tasks occur, the date when we move to the parish hall is still undetermined.

The current timeline estimates that constuction will begin on Jan 2nd 2011.

Alpha is Coming!!!
Alpha is Coming!!!
Looking for purpose in life? Ever wonder what this whole God thing is all about? Have you ever said to yourself "I went to school, I graduated, got a job, and I still don’t understand what life really means...."

Then come to Alpha, a 13-week course on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall of Christ Church. Socialize and have a light dinner from 6 to 6:30, and then sit down to hear a 20- to 30-minute video. Then, you’ll break up into small groups to discuss what you’ve just heard.

That’s it! No pressure, no hard sell, and the freedom to ask any question about God that you want. There is no charge, although offerings are accepted.

This could be just what you’re looking for. Come find out! We’re located at 300 N. Main in downtown Temple, and there is a hyperlink to Google maps on this website to give you directions to us from your location. Please email Fr. Howard Castleberry at frhoward@christchurchtemple.org if you plan to attend.

Hungry for Holiness?
Hungry for Holiness?
Are you tiring of the praise band? Do you want more holiness in worship? Do you want to hear beautiful music? Do you need a mid-week spiritual recharge?

Then try our new Wednesday night service, from 7:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting Sept. 1st in the Parish Hall. The music is a mix of contemporary songs that are reverent, combined with the most popular traditional hymns- all played in a classical arrangement. A classically trained pianist, violinist and cellist will anchor the music.

There are no robes, no acolytes, no processions in this casual but meaningful Rite II service that seeks to introduce the Anglican tradition, and includes communion. Sermons will apply the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our daily lives in deep and meaningful ways. And questions will ALWAYS be welcomed.

Reverent. Relaxed. Real. Come join us on Wednesday evenings!

Free child care is provided.

Small Groups are Where It’s At!
Get Plugged In To Small Groups!
Enjoy the depth and richness of studying Christianity with a small group. Get plugged in to the life of the church! We have many small groups that engage the issues of life through a Christian worldview, such as:

-A one-year study of the Book of Job, using "The Gospel of Job" by Mike Mason as a study guide.

-A study of John Stott’s last book "The Radical Disciple."

-Alpha, a 13-week class for those honestly seeking answers to the God-questions of life.

-A one-year study of the Gospel of John by theologian Tom Wright.

-"Mom’s Circle," a Wednesday morning Bible study for all women (no kids needed!) which offers free child care!

The Women’s Study, a group that meets on Thursday mornings in a Bible study led by the Rev. Mark Wilburn.

-A Tuesday morning Bible study with the priests of Christ Church that studies the Gospel for that upcoming Sunday. -and much more!

If you are interested in finding a small group, please contact Fr. Howard Castleberry at frhoward@christchurchtemple.org or call him at 254-773-1657. Get plugged in!

Mexico Mission Trip A Success!
Mexico Mission Trip A Success!
11 missioners from Christ Church travelled to San Miguel de Allende on June 25th-28th to visit three orphanages and the Gift of English school program. 45 Spanish-English Bibles were given to orphans learning English. Many new friendships were made, and a tour of the impoverished neighborhood of Ejido de Tirado was visited. Another trip is planned for next year- join us!
